Predicted 4-5-1 Huddersfield Town Lineup vs Cardiff City: Key player to return

Having failed to pick up a single point from their first two games this season, David Wagner’s Huddersfield Town are now at the bottom of the points table and if they do not improve quickly, chances are that they might not be able to get out of the drop zone, come the end of the season.

The Terriers they have a real good chance of getting off the mark, as they welcome newly promoted side Cardiff City to Kirklees this weekend.

The Blue Birds drew their game against Newcastle United last weekend, but do not look a side that can challenge the best teams in England. Playing at home, Huddersfield are expected to take at least a point, and maybe even more.

Both teams have some exciting players and it will be interesting to see how Wagner chooses his side for this crunch game. Here is the predicted lineup he might field for this tie:

Huddersfield – Team News

In early team news, Aaron Mooy could be a part of the matchday squad this weekend, after missing the last game for personal reasons. Jonathan Hogg, Mathias Jorgensen, Danny Williams and Erik Durm are all suffering from niggles and could miss the game.

Expected Huddersfield lineup (4-5-1)

Defence

Ben Hamer was at fault for at least a couple of Manchester City goals last weekend and he will look to put things right with a solid performance against Neil Warnock’s men.

Christopher Schindler and Terrence Kongolo have won just five aerial duels between them and will have to be at their best against the likes of Bobby Reid if they are to take anything from this game.

The absence of Jorgensen will mean that Wagner will field a four-man backline and Tommy Smith is his best choice at right-back. Chris Löwe and his experience could be crucial for the Terriers on the left side of the backline.

Midfield

Hogg is doubtful for this game so the manager has no choice but to use Jon Gorenc Stankovic, who scored their only goal so far this season, alongside Philip Billing and Aaron Mooy, both of who will add some balance to the midfield.

Florent Hadergjonaj has not been at his best but his industry and defensive abilities should see him start on the left flank, just ahead of Lowe. Alex Pritchard was one of the most impressive players for the team last weekend and should keep his place on the right side of the midfield.

Attack

With a total of 21 aerial duels won in the first two games, and an assist to his name, Steven Mounie is going to be the player to watch out for this weekend and will be the lone striker for the home side.

Here is how they might line up:
