Chelsea will host Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge this weekend as they’ll hope to continue their stunning early-season form. The 2016/17 Premier League winners are second only to Liverpool and Tottenham in the league table and have adapted quickly to their new manager’s tactics.
Bournemouth, on the other hand, came from two goals down to pick up a point against Everton last weekend. A revitalising 3:0 win against MK Dons in the Football League Cup will definitely boost their morale ahead of the tough clash with Chelsea this weekend.
Chelsea – Team news
Injury issues won’t bother Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri as Cesc Fabregas is the only big-name player doubtful for the clash. The former Barcelona man is currently recovering from a knee injury.
Aside from that, the Italian mastermind will have the privilege of choosing from a fully-fit Chelsea squad.
Here is the probable Chelsea lineup to face the Cherries on Saturday.
Predicted Chelsea lineup
Defence
Kepa Arrizabalaga will retain his spot in between the sticks following a string of impressive performances since moving to Stamford Bridge. Surprisingly, however, the Spanish starlet has kept only one clean sheet in three matches and will be eager to extend his tally against the Cherries.
Sarri has reason whatsoever to make any sort of changes as far as Chelsea’s defence is concerned. We expect all four of Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, David Luiz and Marcos Alonso to retain their places in the starting lineup.
Alonso, in particular, has been quite impressive so far this season, averaging one key pass and three aerials duels per game. But, he could face a tricky test against Bournemouth star Ryan Fraser on Saturday.
Midfield
The midfield, as usual, will be led by the ever-present N’Golo Kante with Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic partnering the Frenchman.
Jorginho has been super-impressive since making his big money move to Chelsea, completing a whopping 309 passes in just three games. His ability to circulate the ball coupled with Kante’s all-round qualities in midfield could be key as Chelsea look to dominate their opposition this weekend.
Attack
The Chelsea attack will be led by Alvaro Morata who scored his first goal this season against Arsenal a fortnight ago. The former Real Madrid star will be keen on making a mark on the score sheet after drawing a blank against Newcastle last weekend.
Morata will be supported by Eden Hazard and Pedro. While Hazard has offered the creativity, Pedro’s directness and ability to stretch opposing defences has helped the team in the attacking third.
