Can Chelsea Overcome This Vibrant Huddersfield Town Side?

Following a busy transfer window, Huddersfield Town will be looking to get their season underway on a positive note as they host Chelsea on Saturday.

The Terriers have signed no less than eight players during the summer transfer window as they aim to make a strong impression in the upcoming season. However, they will face a stern in the shape of Chelsea in their opening game.

The Blues are excited to kickstart their season under the boss Maurizio Sarri. The Italian mastermind comes with a cunning reputation and it will be interesting to see how he manages to usher in a new era at Stamford Bridge this season.

Here is predicted Huddersfield eleven that could start against the Blues this weekend.

Defence

Jonas Lossl will be the man between the sticks for the Terriers. The former Mainz keeper enjoyed a great campaign last season and will be keen on replicating his performances in this new campaign.

Huddersfield’s backline will comprise of new signing Terence Kongolo and Danish international Zanka in central defence. Kongolo was Huddersfield’s most expensive signing this summer. Thus, fans will have high expectations of the Dutchman, who is definitely a solid addition to the Huddersfield backline.

Florent Hadergjonaj will be deployed as the right-back. His move from Ingolstadt was made permanent this summer after enjoying a great campaign last season. However, David Wagner might face a little dilemma in the left-back position but we can expect the experienced Chris Lowe to be given the nod ahead of new signing Erik Durm.

Midfield

In midfield, Jonathan Hogg will partner up with Australian superstar Aaron Mooy at the base of Huddersfield’s 4-2-3-1 formation.

Hogg’s work ethic will be a key as the home side look to nullify the threat provided by the Chelsea midfielders but at the same time, Huddersfield may also rely on Mooy’s craft and industry in order to dominate their opposition.

Attack

Huddersfield’s attack will be led Steve Mounie, who emerged as their top-scorer last season. However, Wagner will also have the opportunity to start with Diakhaby as well, who joined from Monaco this summer.

Mounie will be provided support by the trio of Rajiv van La Parra, Ramadan Sobhi and Alex Pritchard. All eyes will on new signing Sobhi, who joined from Stoke City for a fee of €6.5 million.

But, it will be Pritchard, who will be tasked with the responsibility of proving scoring opportunities in the final third against a formidable Chelsea backline.
