Manchester United have had a mixed start to their new season in the Premier League. After an inspiring 2-1 win over Leicester City in their opening fixture, Jose Mourinho’s men were humbled by Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend after the Seagulls clinched a 3-2 win.
Questions have already started to rise over the future of the Portuguese at the Old Trafford. Recently, reports had emerged about his rift with Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward. Besides, the manager’s relationship with Paul Pogba has also been on a decline.
The Red Devils are due to host title contenders Tottenham Hotspur on Monday and there is no denying that Spurs are going to be a tough nut to crack. Interestingly, Mourinho turned up for his weekly pre-match press conference 30 minutes earlier that it was scheduled and he denied the existence of tensions between him and Woodward.
On being interrogated if all was well with Woodward, he replied: “Of course”, and then responded simply “no” when pressed on any problems with him. Mourinho has a lot of tensions around him at the moment and it would be interesting to see what lies ahead of him in the coming months.
