Liverpool vs Brighton Preview: Team News, Probable Lineups, Prediction and Odds

After an impressive summer transfer window, Liverpool are tipped to be one of the few clubs who can catch Manchester City in the race to the league title this season. Jürgen Klopp’s men have not disappointed in the first couple of games of the season, scoring six goals against West Ham and Crystal Palace combined without conceding any, standing as the only team yet to be breached.

The Reds have a chance to continue their winning run this weekend when they host Brighton at Anfield on Saturday. The Seagulls have not won at Liverpool for over three decades now.

However, Chris Hughton’s men will be on a high, as they are fresh from beating Manchester United at home last weekend. The Seagulls put three past the Red Devils and will firmly believe that they can test Liverpool in this game. The hosts have, however,  scored 18 goals without conceding any in their last six games at Anfield and will be a hard unit to stop this weekend.

Brighton won just two games on their travels last season so according to the stats, Liverpool are firm favourites to snatch all three points. But Brighton have a decent squad and the Reds need to be at their best to take all three points from this game.

Here is the preview, team news, predicted lineups, predictions and betting odds for this clash:

Team News

Liverpool

The Reds have the versatile Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as the only long-term absentee. Dejan Lovren is still suffering from a stomach bug and is not expected to play a role for the side before the end of the month.

Jordan Henderson should be fully fit to start while Fabinho, who was not even on the bench last weekend, is expected to be a part of the matchday squad for this weekend. Joel Matip is also back from an injury layoff and could find a place on the.

Expected Liverpool lineup (4-3-3): Alisson; TAA, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Keita; Salah, Mane, Firmino

Brighton & Hove Albion

Florin And one, José Izquierdo and Bruno are all but ruled out for this game against Liverpool. Lewis Dunk is expected to miss three games after the appalling tackle from Romelu Lukaku last week and will not be a part of this game.

Expected Brighton lineup (4-2-3-1): Ryan; Bernardo, Bong, Balogun, Montoya; Propper, Stephens; March, Gross, Knockaert; Murray

Odds

Liverpool – 1/6

Draw – 15/2

Brighton – 18/1

Prediction

Even as Brighton showed that they can beat the best teams in the league last weekend, playing Liverpool at Anfield will be no easy task and they will have to be really vigilante if they are to stay in the game, even at the half-time whistle. Liverpool are expected to make light work of this game and we expect them to put more than two past Mathew Ryan this weekend.
