Earlier this summer, Rangers lured two quality centre-backs in Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson to their ranks. Although these two have been quite impressive so far, manager Steven Gerrard is keen to beef up his defensive ranks further and bring more competition for a place in the starting line-up.
As per one of the latest reports by The Scottish Sun, the Gers are pursuing Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall. Apart from the Scottish giants, Championship outfits Aston Villa, Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion are also believed to have put the 21-year-old on their radar.
Worrall emerged through the youth ranks of the Tricky Trees and during his loan spell with Dagenham & Redbridge, he impressed. Slowly, he paved his way to Nottingham Forest’s senior side and he made 31 appearances in the Championship last term, making 1.1 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and 7.4 clearances per game on an average.
However, he has fallen down in the pecking order of Aitor Karanka and is now their fifth choice. Karanka is ready to let him leave the City Ground on loan to avoid his stagnation and it has been reported that Rangers have made an enquiry to make him sign on the dotted line.
