As per one of the latest reports by Mirror, Arsenal are optimistic of Aaron Ramsey’s contract extension. The Welshman is in the final year of his contract and wants a massive upgrade of his wages to remain at the Emirates Stadium.
In January, Mesut Ozil was handed a new deal worth £350,000-a-week and owing to the interest from Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea and some Chinese Super League clubs, Ramsey is familiar to the fact that he could command a staggering pay if he becomes a free agent at the end of the season.
There is no denying that the 27-year-old is an instrumental player for the Gunners. Unai Emery is keen to tie him down with a new contract but the north London based outfit have to balance their books first as their wage bill is already an issue for them.
Arsenal had lost Alexis Sanchez to the Red Devils during the January transfer window because of a similar situation and they cannot afford to lose Ramsey. Emery has already classified Ramsey as one of the first captains in his armoury and he is expected to play a crucial role under his tutelage.
