Unai Emery’s reign at Arsenal hasn’t started in an appealing manner despite a productive pre-season. The Gunners were humbled by Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium in the opening fixture and were also defeated by Chelsea on Saturday at the Stamford Bridge.
Having failed to earn even a single point in two league game so far in the Premier League, Arsenal are due to host West Ham United this weekend in what promises to be a crunch London derby. The Hammers beefed up their ranks tremendously during the summer transfer window and they do appear to be a solid team on paper.
Jack Wilshere was one of the newcomers at the London Stadium this summer after his free transfer from Arsenal. Wilshere was forced to leave the North London based outfit after mustering 197 appearances for them and the English international has a point to prove to his former employers.
Despite facing defeats against Liverpool and Bournemouth, Wilshere is optimistic of a change in fortunes of the Irons. While speaking to the press ahead of his side’s clash against Arsenal, he said: “Hopefully, it will be a good time to play them. It is down to me to prove a point to Arsenal that they were wrong to get rid of me.”
