According to Daily Mail, Crystal Palace are in talks with RB Salzburg for the potential transfer of Munas Dabbur. The Salzburg forward has attracted a lot of interest across Europe this summer after netting as many as 29 goals last season.
The Eagles could face stiff competition for Dabbur, with La Liga giants Sevilla and Valencia also vying for his signature.
Player profile and what he can offer
Dabbur initially moved to Austria back in 2016 in a €6 million move from Swiss side Grasshoppers. But, following a rather scratchy start to his career at Salzburg, Dabbur was shipped back to Grasshoppers for a six-month loan deal back in 2017.
After returning to the Swiss Super League, the Israeli international netted seven goals in 13 matches as he regained the trust of his parent club and never looked back since.
Last season, Dabbur scored 22 goals in just 32 matches in the Austrian Bundesliga which helped RB Salzburg secure the title. He also netted five goals in their 14 UEFA Europa League outings last campaign.
Dabbur is advertised as a complete striker, who is not only versatile enough to drift out wide but also has good technique on the ball. While his goal-scoring prowess is clearly evident by his stunning output, it’s also fair to point out that he also mustered 11 assists in all competitions last season, reflecting his ability to create chances.
What he lacks in pace and tenacity, he makes up with his deadly finishing which coupled with his clever movements inside the box, make him an ideal fit for the Premier League.
Why do Crystal Palace need Munas Dabbur?
Dabbur will be a smart signing for Crystal Palace given their lack of goal-scoring options. In fact, Christian Benteke is their only reliable source of goals but that being said, no assurances can be made regarding his form in front of goal.
In addition, Alexander Sorloth has barely featured for the club since arriving in January while Connor Wickham has remained injured for the most part of his career at Selhurst Park. Thus, the addition of Munas Dabbur will undoubtedly boost Roy Hodgson’s options in front of goal next season.
The RB Salzburg superstar has shown immense potential during his time in the Austrian Bundesliga and his impressive scoring tally suggests that he might just be ready to make the next big step in his career.
