Chelsea Transfer: Huge Update On Deal For Midfielder

As per one of the latest reports by Daily Star, Chelsea are keen to ship out midfielder Danny Drinkwater abroad. The report also states that German Bundesliga outfit Schalke are interested to make him sign on the dotted line after having failed to lure Ruben Loftus-Cheeks to their arsenal.

Drinkwater has struggled to make his presence felt at Chelsea after his whopping £35m transfer from Leicester City last summer. Injuries, tremendous competition and lack of form have all played a part in derailing his career after his impressive spell with the Foxes with whom he had clinched the 2015-16 Premier League title.

The 28-year-old made just 5 starts in the Premier League last term for the Blues. Although he featured in his side’s 2-0 loss in the Community Shield against Manchester City, he wasn’t even among the seven substitutes in Chelsea’s opening league fixture against Huddersfield Town.

Chelsea’s new manager Maurizio Sarri has shown the green light for Drinkwater’s exit as he has some quality players like Cesc Fabregas, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Ross Barkley and newcomer Jorginho in his ranks. There is no denying that the English international is surplus to the requirements of Sarri at the Stamford Bridge and his exit will make complete sense.
