Ruben Loftus-Cheek was shipped out on loan to Crystal Palace by Chelsea last season and he mustered an impressive season with the Eagles. In 24 top-flight appearances, Loftus-Cheek scored 2 goals and registered 3 assists and was instrumental in Crystal Palace’s survival in the top tier.
He was selected by England national team manager Gareth Southgate’s side for the 2018 World Cup in Russia and he impressed during the opportunities he was handed. However, he has plenty of competition for bagging a place in the starting line-up of Chelsea this season.
Maurizio Sarri has the likes of Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, Cesc Fabregas, N’Golo Kante and Ross Barkley on his books and therefore, Loftus-Cheek is unlikely to get much of game time under his belt with the Blues. Reportedly, Schalke and Monaco were keen to prise him out of the Stamford Bridge this summer.
Intriguingly, Chelsea have blocked the exit of the 22-year-old and as per one of the latest reports by Metro, the young gun is fuming with anger due to the action taken by his employers. Earlier this summer, Loftus-Cheek showcased his frustration for the apparent lack of chances given to the Chelsea starlets.
The English international said: “‘It’s been so difficult to go from playing every game then get to the seniors and not be given a chance. It’s really difficult mentally, there’s only so long you just enjoy training with top players.”
