Celtic suffered a defeat against Heart of Midlothian at the Tynecastle Stadium earlier today. A goal from Kyle Lafferty was the only difference between the two Scottish giants. The Northern Ireland international smashed home a spectacular volley to clinch all three points for Hearts.
Here is how Brendan Rodgers’ men fared during the loss in their latest Scottish Premiership fixture.
Craig Gordon 6/10
The custodian made a good save to deny Steven Naismith from finding the back of the net and can’t really be blamed for not being able to save Lafferty’s sensational strike.
Mikael Lustig 5/10
Defensively, Lustig was resilient and read the game well. However, he lacked intent while going forward.
Jozo Simunovic 3/10
It was Simunovic’s error which enabled Lafferty to score. Besides, he was lacking in confidence and couldn’t really find his feet in the game.
Jack Hendry 6/10
Hendry was composed at the back and was comfortable with the ball at his feet. Unlike Simunovic, he looked assured for most parts of the game.
Kieran Tierney 6/10
The left-back ventured forward with relative ease and worked well with Sinclair on the left flank. Moreover, he was strong while catering to his defensive duties as well.
Jonny Hayes 4/10
Hayes hardly made his presence felt on the pitch and was rightfully substituted by Rodgers in the second half.
Scott Brown 5/10
The midfielder worked really hard in the middle of the pitch and went very close to scoring in the first period, but his effort went over the bar.
Kouassi Eboue 4/10
Eboue might have been industrious today but he lacked output. He should do a lot better to impress his manager in the upcoming fixtures.
Scott Sinclair 6/10
Sinclair looked lively throughout the game and he certainly caused a lot of trouble to the back line of the Jambos. However, most of his efforts went begging.
Callum McGregor 5/10
Tried his best to link up with his teammates but he lacked the cutting edge which was needed from him in the final third.
Leigh Griffiths 5/10
Although the striker had a lot of opportunities to score, his final touch flattered to deceive.
Substitutes:
Odsonne Edouard 4/10
The Frenchman replaced Griffiths but didn’t add anything substantial after coming on.
James Forrest 4/10
Forrest came on for Hayes and apart from doing his basics right, he hardly made any notable contribution.
Tom Rogic 4/10
The Australian international was the last throw of dice by Rodgers and in all fairness, his fresh legs helped the Celts look lively in the closing stages.
