3 Everton Players Who Will Be Crucial This Season

Everton are one of the teams who took the transfer window by storm as we brace ourselves for the start of the new Premier League season.

Following a somewhat disappointing campaign last season, the Toffees have made quite a lot of changes this summer. Aside from appointing Marco Silva as the new boss, the Merseyside outfit have made four or five important signings, all of who could play a big role in the near future.

In this article, we take a look at three Everton players who will play a significant role as Marco Silva looks to usher in a new era at Merseyside this season.

#3 Yerry Mina

Following weeks of speculation, Everton managed to seal a deadline day deal for Yerry Mina and he could be a solid addition to the club after the departure of Ashley Williams.

Mina has already shown his qualities in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, scoring three goals. He also built a formidable defensive partnership with Davinson Sanchez that helped Colombia reach the Round of 16 stage.

His sheer physical presence coupled is a perfect fit for the Premier League. In addition, his tall figure also makes him a danger-man in set-pieces. Thus, he could be an ideal partner for Michael Keane at the heart of the defence.

#2 Richarlison

Everton’s second most expensive signing in the club’s history, Richarlison’s move to Goodison Park raised quite a lot of eyebrows earlier this summer. The Brazilian was reunited with his former coach Marco Silva after enjoying a fruitful spell at Watford for a whopping fee of £40 million and fans will hope he can live up to his billing.

A quick operator in the final third, Richarlison’s dynamism and ability on the ball make him a feared attacker. He is a threat on the break largely due to his burst of speed.

Silva knows how to get the best out to the Brazilian, whose form will go a long way depicting Everton’s attacking prowess in this new season.

#1 Ademola Lookman

Last but not the least, is Ademola Lookman, who will arguably be the most important player for Everton this season.

The youngster has gained the trust of the club’s hierarchy following an impressive loan spell in Bundesliga that saw him score five goals and provide four assists in just 11 games for RB Leipzig. In fact, the Toffees have actually done a great job in holding on to their prized asset thus far with Leipzig, showing keen interest.

Lookman is generally a quick attacker, who is versatile enough to feature anywhere up front. But, he can be a deadly figure from the left-wing position, where he can use his pace to get past opposing defenders whilst cutting inside to use his lethal right foot.

Last season, he averaged 2.5 dribbles and 1.5 key passes per game and Silva will hope he can replicate those numbers this new season. But one thing is for sure, if he can maintain his impressive scoring form from last season, Everton will definitely become a more potent attacking side in the Premier League.
