According to reports, Leicester City and Fulham are vying for the services of Jordan Ayew. The Ghanaian international could follow his brother Andre through the exit door of the Liberty Stadium this summer, following their relegation last campaign.
While Andre Ayew has recently completed his loan move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce, his younger brother Jordan could be in for a permanent move away from Liberty Stadium, with Premier League clubs Leicester and Fulham reportedly keen on his services.
Leicester City, in particular, have emerged as a potential suitor the 26-year-old attacker as they aim to strengthen their attack, following the departure of Riyad Mahrez. The Algerian superstar, who played an integral role in Leicester’s success over the past few years has joined Manchester City, leaving the Foxes vying for a proper replacement. And many believe Jordan Ayew has the ability to fill that gap.
The former Marseille starlet, just like his brother, didn’t find any difficulties in getting used to the Premier League. Ayew first made his move to the English top flight back in 2015 when Aston Villa snapped him up for a fee of £10 million.
He scored an impressive seven goals in his debut campaign in England although he did fail to replicate his performances in the following season, scoring just two before Swansea City secured his services in January of last year. But, the 26-year-old scored only one goal in 14 appearances during that corresponding campaign.
However, Jordan once again showed his true qualities last campaign as he netted seven goals and provided two assists, ultimately emerging as one of the few bright spots in a dire season for the Swans.
Leicester City, on the other hand, could be on the brink of a huge collapse in their attacking department following the aforementioned departure of Mahrez. Wide midfielder Marc Albrighton and the talented Demarai Gray remain their only reliable options in the wide positions, thus accentuating the need of a top quality winger.
Jordan Ayew, therefore, could be an ideal candidate, given his relatively decent record in the English top flight. Aside from that, the 26-year-old is also blessed with sheer pace and dynamism in the wider positions, making him an ideal fit for the Claude Puel-led Leicester next season. In addition, he has also made 80 appearances in the Premier League, which will certainly help him settle into his new club.
However, Leicester City could face stiff competition from league rivals Fulham, who have shown huge ambition following their promotion to the top flight, having notably secured the services of former German world champion Andre Schurrle earlier this week.
