Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur has been linked with a shocking move for Crystal Palace superstar Wilfried Zaha, as per reports from The Guardian.
Following a rather satisfying season, the Lilywhites are apparently keen on strengthening their attacking department as they attempt to pose a strong challenge for the title next season. Apart from constantly looking for a second choice striker, head coach Mauricio Pochettino has also shown his eagerness to sign a winger this summer, having already linked with a move for Malcom.
Wilfried Zaha, on the other hand, has been a subject of a lot of transfer interest over the past few months, largely due to his sensational performances in the English top flight. The former Manchester United asset is highly regarded as one of the best wingers in the Premier League at the moment, with Spurs chairman already pumping up a stunning bid of a reported £100m.
Despite his hefty price-tag, however, Spurs are actually in dire need of an attacker this summer for a number of reasons.
First and foremost, star player Erik Lamela has suffered from injury throughout the most part of his career with Tottenham and is also linked with a move out of England this summer while new signing Lucas Moura has failed to get his feet sorted out in the English top flight, as of yet. In addition, the likes of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen have also acquired a lot of traction among the European heavyweights, including Real Madrid. due to their exceptional performances.
Therefore, the addition of Wilfried Zaha could prove to be a sigh of relief for Tottenham Hotspur. Highly known for his exceptional dribbling qualities, the Crystal Palace player can not only be an instant replacement for Erik Lamela but also prove to be a long-term asset for the club. His sheer pace coupled with his mazy runs across the defensive lines is perfect for someone like Mauricio Pochettino, who puts so much emphasis on attacking efficiently in the final third.
This season, Wilfried Zaha has basically been a one-man army for Crystal Palace. The 25-year old’s nine goals and five assists have helped the Eagles to finish the season in a respectable mid-table position.
Being tipped as one of the players to look out for in the upcoming FIFA World Cup, Wilfried Zaha has already shown what he is capable of and Spurs should definitely go all out for his highly talented Ivorian, who is more than ready to make the next big step in his career.
