According to a report by Hull Daily Mail, Stoke City are interested to sign Aston Villa’s prolific youngster, Jack Grealish. Apart from the Potters, West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City are also monitoring him very closely, as per the report.
Grealish is one of the finest young talents to have emerged from the youth system of Aston Villa and everyone knows of his calibre ever since he featured in the top flight a couple of years ago. Predominantly a central midfielder, the starlet is capable enough to operate as a central attacking midfielder as well as a winger and he was one of the best players for the Villans during the 2017-18 season.
Steve Bruce’s side finished at the third spot in the Championship standings last season and managed to beat Middlesbrough in the semi-final of the playoffs. However, they were beaten by Fulham in the final and thus, the Cottagers eventually got themselves promoted to the Premier League. Another tough season in the second division lies ahead for the Lions.
Reportedly, Aston Villa are set to offload a number of players to abide by the restrictions imposed by Financial Fair Play and Grealish is one of the players who might be offloaded by the club.
His availability has thus alerted the aforesaid clubs who are keen to sign him in the summer. All the three relegated clubs mentioned, including Stoke City, will attempt to get back into the top flight and Grealish will be a handy asset for any of them.
In 30 appearances in the Championship last season, Grealish bagged 3 goals and also notched 6 assists. He mustered a healthy pass accuracy of 85.6% and there is no denying that despite being a youngster, he showed that he can deliver when the going gets tough.
He might not have volumes of experience under his belt but he certainly has the ingredients to excel. His knack for being able to find the back of the net will only get better with time and Stoke could be the benefactors if they sign him.
Although there are many areas he needs to improve on, it should be noted that he is still an unpolished yet blossoming commodity in the game and will only get better in the coming seasons.
