Tottenham Hotspur will end another exciting season on Mauricio Pochettino with nothing to show for and though they have still have to work hard to finish in the top-4 of the points table, the Argentine tactician will want to add some established stars to his first team.
This has seen Spurs linked with a number of star names and one player exciting many fans is Ciro Immobile.
Tottenham Hotspur Plot £100m Lazio Raid
According to reports from The Mirror, Spurs are ready to splash over £100m on Lazio stars Sergey Milinkovic-Savic and Ciro Immobile. The reports claim that both players could be in the transfer market this summer and are already attracting attention from the biggest clubs in Europe.
But Spurs are set to lose the likes of Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose this summer and are ready to spend what they get from those sales on the Serie A duo. So is Immobile the right choice for Pochettino?
Immobile And His Goal Scoring Record
A product of the academy at Juventus, the 28-year old played for five different Italian clubs before settling in Rome in 2016. He broke into the Italian national side in 2014 and was crucial to Italy’s chances in the World Cup qualifiers. He only signed a contract extension at the start of the season and Lazio will not be willing to let him go, at least on the cheap.
After scoring 23 goals in Serie A last season, Immobile has taken his game to another level this season and has 41 goals and nine assists in 41 starts for the club in all competitions. A deadly finisher with a keen eye for a path-breaking pass, Immobile has loads of experience and has played in the German and Spanish top flight leagues as well.
He is an out and out striker and is right now, one of the most consistent in Europe. At just 28, he is in his prime as a footballer and will be a huge coup for Spurs.
Where Does He Fit In?
Pochettino uses a 4-2-3-1 system regularly at Spurs with Harry Kane, one of the best strikers in the country, leading the line. Immobile is as good a goal scorer as the English international and will not settle for a place on the bench.
A strike-partnership of Immobile and Kane is the stuff of dreams and if Pochettino decides to use both of them in a 4-2-2-2 system, a front four of Immobile, Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen will scare even the best teams in the game.
So signing the Italian will depend on Pochettino’s system but do you think Immobile’s goal-scoring prowess is needed at Tottenham Hotspur?
