Predicted 4-4-2 Leicester City Lineup To Face Arsenal: Mahrez Out To Prove A Point?

Claude Puel’s Foxes seem to be craving for an early holiday this summer as they have now lost four of their last five league games, dropping to the 9th place in the points table. They still have a couple of games left and can easily drop out of the top half of the table as they play Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in their last two games.

They welcome Arsene Wenger’s side to the King Power this Wednesday just days after losing 2-0 to West Ham. The Gunners put on a show against Burnley to give Arsene Wenger a fitting send-off in his final game at the Emirates and will look to continue that form in this game. But Leicester City, who need to show that they are still a tough team to beat, playing at home, are expected to give Arsenal a tough fight. Here is the predicted lineup Puel might field for this tie:

Team News:

The manager might have up to 10 players missing due to injuries in this game against Arsenal. Daniel Amartey, Robert Huth, Ben Chilwell, Danny Simpson, Wilfried Ndidi and Matty James are all out injured and ruled out for the rest of the season. Shinji Okazaki is nursing an ankle injury and will surely miss this game along with Aleksandar Dragovic, who is suffering from a shoulder issue. Kasper Schmeichel is also doubtful as he continues to work on his foot injury.

Expected lineup (4-4-2):

Defence:

With Kasper Schmeichel not yet fully fit, Ben Hamer, who has not been at his best, will continue under the bar this week for Leicester City. Christian Fuchs will keep his place at left-back in absence of Chilwell while Yohan Benalouane will take up Simpson’s place on the right flank in the backline.

Wes Morgan and Harry Maguire have been regulars in the backline for The Foxes and are expected to start this game against Arsenal.

Midfield:

With Ndidi absent, Vicente Iborra will start in the midfield alongside 20-year old Hamza Choudhury, who is getting loads of game time late in the season. Riyad Mahrez needs to step up late in the season and will want to show Arsenal what he can do. He will start on the right flank in the midfield while Demarai Gray will add more creativity to the midfield on the left flank.

Attack:

With Okazaki also out injured, Puel might stick with Adrien Silva in a no.10 role, adding some balance to the entire side while Jamie Vardy will look to add to his goal scoring tally against The Gunners.

Here is how they might line up:
