With the Scottish Premiership title already in the bag, Celtic will entertain Kilmarnock at the Celtic Park later today. The Hoops are coming on the back of a 1-3 win over Heart of Midlothian at the Tynecastle Stadium and will be full of confidence when they face the Killie.
The Scottish league champions are set to be without two of their strikers. Odsonne Edouard has picked up a hamstring injury and is set to be sidelined for the upcoming fixture.
Besides, Leigh Griffiths is down with an illness and is not expected to feature. Nir Bitton (knee) and Jonny Hayes (broken leg) are still out. Left-back, Kieran Tierney, is also in the list of injured players and will be unavailable.
Here is how we expect Rodgers to roll out his starting line-up against Steve Clarke’s entourage.
Scott Bain is expected to keep his place under the bar. He has been a decent back-up for Craig Gordon and fared well against the Jambos in the previous league game.
Kristoffer Ajer and Dedryck Boyata are set to be rolled out by Rodgers once again. These two have churned a decent understanding amongst themselves and will look to end the season on a high.
In the absence of Tierney, Calvin Miller might get some game time under his belt from the left-back slot although Callum McGregor was selected in the aforesaid position in the last league encounter of the Bhoys. Mikael Lustig is anticipated to start from the right-back.
Olivier Ntcham and Scott Brown are expected to be unleashed in the middle of the park yet again by the former Liverpool boss. While Ntcham has acclimatized himself with Celtic’s style in an appealing manner, Brown has the calibre to dictate the game and his range of passing will come in handy.
From the no.10 position, we expect Tom Rogic to start once again to offer his creative prowess and attacking tooth in the final third.
Moussa Dembele is likely to get the green light from Rodgers to start as the striker against Clarke’s men. The Frenchman bagged a goal against Hearts and will be keen to make his presence felt once again.
We expect Scott Sinclair to be placed on the left-wing against Kilmarnock. He hasn’t had a great season but will look to end it on a high. Meanwhile, James Forrest is likely to start from the right-wing.
