Manchester United aren’t too far from challenging Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. Unlike City, Manchester United have a few areas they need to strengthen and it’s likely they’ll do that in the coming summer. United are perhaps a right winger and a good left-back away from a well-balanced team.
After an underwhelming first season at the club, Guardiola decided enough was enough and spent quite a lot of money on fullbacks. If recent reports are to be believed, Mourinho could do the same and sign Paris-Saint Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa.
PSG have romped to the title this season but a lot of people expected them to win it. Their UEFA Champions League dream still remains as they were knocked out by holders Real Madrid. Kurzawa, despite impressing early on in his PSG career, hasn’t been the first choice at the club as Spanish fullback Yuri Berchiche has managed 17 starts.
Emery will leave the club next season but having tasted league glory already, Kurzawa might not stick around and could move.
A pretty attacking fullback, Kurzawa will add a bigger threat on the left. He has the pace to maraud on the wings but his work rate has been questioned at times this season and he’ll have to improve that under Mourinho as the gaffer demands good work rate from the fullbacks.
Luke Shaw has been marginalised because the Englishman hasn’t impressed. Mourinho has even got Ashley Young to do the dirty work while defending, so Kurzawa will have to do more of the same.
