The summer transfer window is already open for the Premier League clubs and Champions League finalists Liverpool are already off the mark. They have added a stellar name to their side in Fabinho but are still desperate for additions to their midfield this summer.
And one player extensively linked with a move to the club is Nabil Fekir.
Liverpool Could Land Fekir This Week:
A transfer target for the Reds for quite a while now, Fekir was close to a move to Anfield according to reports from a few weeks ago. He has today spoken about his future and revealed that he wants to wait until the end of the World Cup.
But English news outfit Guardian claim that Liverpool are close to landing the French international and could announce his signing by the end of the week. So what does this mean for the Reds?
What Will Fekir Bring To Anfield?
Though not a done deal yet, Fekir could cost close to £60m, as valued by French giants Lyon and at that price, he will be a regular starter for Klopp. A gifted footballer, who can make things happen with the ball at his feet, the 24-year old registered 18 goals and 8 assists in just 28 Ligue 1 starts, playing mostly as a no.10 in a 4-2-3-1 system at Lyon.
He was also used on the wing, and even as a false-9, to decent effect and is easily one of the best playmakers in Europe at the moment. He can find the back of the net from long range, can provide path-breaking passes from the midfield and is also sensational over a dead ball.
He is a complete player, whose only weakness is his impatient approach to the game. He has decent skill and pace but is too quick to make a tackle at times. But that shows that he is ready to put in the hard yards in the middle of the park and will be a decent coup for Liverpool.
He can cross, can play neat one-twos and is a quick thinker, who will be devastating in the transition play that Liverpool are good at. And at just 24, he is an option for years to come and is definitely one of the best players Liverpool can sign for their midfield this summer.
Where Does He Fit In?
Liverpool qualified for the Champions League with a midfield of Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain but have already signed Fabinho and will welcome Naby Keita, who signed last summer itself.
Adding Fekir will mean that Liverpool will have a completely new look midfield, with Fabinho playing in the deeper role. Both Keita and Fekir will add creativity, tenacity and balance to the side, which can go a long way in taking Liverpool back to their best.
A front line of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, with Fekir, Keita and Fabinho is probably one of the most exciting lineups in European football and Liverpool should certainly meet Fekir’s valuation to try and make this happen.
He is a genuine match winner but do you think he is the right man for Liverpool?
