Premier League giants Everton have handed 19-year-old youth sensation Beni Baningime a new four-year contract extension, following his exceptional performances this season. The new deal will keep him at the club till 2022, which has also delighted the player as well as the club.
Beni Baningime joined the Everton youth academy at the age of eight and has since been a complete revelation at the club’s youth departments. The Congolese youngster has quickly emerged as Everton’s one of the most highly rated young players at the club, which has also earned him a call-up to the senior side earlier this season.
In fact, the 19-year-old has already made eight appearances in the Premier League and a total of 12 appearances in all competitions this campaign. Aside from that, the youngster has been an absolute gem in the youth leagues, often playing a vital role for the Everton reserves. He also helped the Everton U23s to secure the Premier League 2 title last season, which has already made him one of the most sought-after talents in England at the moment.
As for Everton, they have seriously struggled this season, despite a huge summer spending spree last year. With the likes of Davy Klaassen and Gylfi Sigurdsson failing to make their mark at Goodison Park, the Toffees might be in need of someone who can identify themselves with the club’s ethos and culture and Beni Baningime might be the perfect option for the Merseyside giants.
The Congolese youngster has been a part of the club for quite some time and has also performed brilliantly in the youth divisions, making him a wild card, should they fail to sign a proper midfielder in the upcoming summer transfer window. Other than that, Baningime will also be able to provide Everton with the much-needed depth in the midfield department.
Furthermore, Baningime’s potential makes him a huge asset for the club in the coming years. With his playing style being likened to Idrissa Gueye and N’Golo Kante, the youngster could emerge as a potential replacement should Everton struggle with any departure of star midfielders or get hit by injuries.
The 19-year-old is gifted with the perfect skillset which is necessary for any Premier League youngster and it would be interesting to see as to how Everton nurtures this highly rated midfielder, who is more than capable of making a big impact at the club next season. Therefore, his contract extension could be a step in the right direction from the Merseyside giants.
