Having moved seven points away from the drop zone, West Ham United are already planning for life in the top flight next season as David Moyes is chalking up plans to improve his side’s league performances next season. He is looking at some of the finest stars in England but one name exciting many fans is Stoke City attacker Xherdan Shaqiri.
West Ham One Of Many Interested In Shaqiri:
The Swiss international is easily the most effective player at Bet365 at the moment but the Potters are struggling to move out of the drop zone and have just four games, to cover five points and move out of the bottom-3. They look destined for the drop and it is given that they will lose a few of their first team stars this summer.
Shaqiri will be right up on that list. Reports claim that Everton, Crystal Palace and West Ham United have already registered their interest in the Swiss international, who is expected to lure more attention at the end of the season. So is Shaqiri the right man for West Ham?
Shaqiri And His Chances At West Ham:
A gifted footballer with a keen eye for goal, the 26-year-old, who has 86 caps for his national side, is an important part of the Switzerland side which will participate in Russia later this year and is among the most talented players in the Premier League at the moment.
A regular in the first team for Stoke, Shaqiri has seven goals and six assists in the domestic league and is crucial to Stoke’s chances of avoiding the drop this season. He is a talisman and can make things happen out of nowhere. He has the knack of winning games for his side and will be a huge coup for even some of the top teams in England.
His stats show that he deserves to play at a better club and West Ham might not be a bad option for him.
Shaqiri, who can also play as a false-9, is at his best playing in behind the striker, on the flank or through the middle. Moyes can play his side around Shaqiri and can use Marko Arnautovic on the other flank with a genuine goal scorer up top. This will make West Ham’s attack one of the strongest in the league.
Can West Ham Lure Him?
The biggest question will be whether The Hammers can fend off interest from other clubs. With just over two years left on his current deal, the 26-year old will not be too expensive and will certainly attract interest from top clubs in the country this summer.
He has the potential to turn into a world beater and West Ham will have to work really hard to land him. Financial incentives might help but there are many clubs where Shaqiri fits in better and West Ham should make a move early, giving them enough time to search for alternatives if they are not able to land him.
