Tottenham Hotspur Linked With Exciting Leicester City Winger: Good Fit For Pochettino?

Tottenham Hotspur are a club known for giving youngsters a chance to showcase their talent at the highest level. Mauricio Pochettino, who is yet to lift his first silverware with Spurs, is already planning for life next season and has been looking at some exciting stars for a move this summer.

One such player, that is linked with a move to London at the end of the season is Leicester City star, Demarai Gray.

Spurs Back In for Gray:

A transfer target for Pochettino even at the start of the current season, Gray is regarded as one of the most exciting youngsters in the England U21 squad but has struggled to cement his place in the first team at King Power. It is understood that he is frustrated with his game time and is looking to quit the club come the end of the season.

And reports from ESPN now claim that Pochettino has kept a close eye on his progress and is ready to make another approach this summer. Not many Spurs fans are too happy with this link but is Gray a decent option for Spurs?

Gray And His Numbers:

A technically sound footballer, with decent skill and pace to work with, the 21-year old, who is yet to break into the English national side, Gray has already made 94 appearances for The Foxes in all competitions and has established himself in the top flight as a future star.

He has three goals and an assist in 14 league starts this season but has been one of the most statistically effective playmakers at King Power this season. He is confident with the ball at his feet and is hard to stop when in full flow. His decision making needs to improve but at just 21, he is only going to get better and can easily be a match winner for the best clubs in England.

He is deadly in front of goal and ticks most boxes in Pochettino’s recruitment model. He may not be able to walk into the first team at Spurs but he definitely has enough potential to turn into a superstar in years to come.

Why The Fans Are Gloomy:

Spurs, for a while now, have been a side ready to experiment with youngsters to find success. But as already mentioned, they are yet to win anything of note and though they have a chance in the FA Cup this season, need to change a few things next season to go all the way.

While spending on youth is productive most of the time, it might finally be time for Pochettino and the board to start signing proven talent, that can take them all the way in the toughest of the competitions.

As a backup, Gray is as good an option as any but Spurs should spend big this summer to improve their first team and need to stop spending on backups. But do you think Gray can take Spurs to the next level?
