German giants Bayern Munich are ready to splash the cash to acquire the services of Ivan Rakitic in the upcoming transfer window, as per recent reports!
Ivan Rakitic is an integral member of the Barcelona first team. However, the Croatian midfielder could be stripped off a regular role by Barcelona in order to ensure the addition of Atletico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann as well as fellow midfielder Arthur.
Rakitic, who has been linked with a host of European clubs in the past, has now attracted the likes of Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Liverpool.
Liverpool, in particular, could make a strong case for signing the Croatian International this summer.
Following the departure of Philippe Coutinho earlier this year, the Reds are apparently desperate to sign a world class midfielder in the upcoming summer transfer window and the acquisition of Ivan Rakitic could be an ideal solution.
Even though Liverpool have performed even better without the services of their former star playmaker, in the second half of the season, having reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, the arrival of a top-quality midfielder could be imperative for the Merseyside giants next season.
New signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is growing in confidence, after arriving from Arsenal last summer and has already become a key member of the Liverpool team. But that being said, the English international is not ideally suited to replace someone like Philippe Coutinho, in the creative department.
Despite the presence of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane upfront, the absence of a fully-fledged playmaker could lead to Liverpool’s demise next season.
Therefore, the Reds should definitely make a move for Ivan Rakitic this summer. The Croatian International is highly regarded as the second best midfielder in his native country, after Luka Modric.
Although the former Sevilla star has been a regular for Barcelona since joining the club, Rakitic’s playing time at Camp Nou could take a significant drop, with the arrival of Philippe Coutinho and even more so, should Arthur moves to Catalonia this summer. Hence, the 30-year-old will be looking for game-time and a move to Liverpool could be perfect.
The Reds have already done very well in this edition of the UEFA Champions League and they have also improved a lot in recent years, largely thanks to the leadership of Jurgen Klopp and who knows, Rakitic’s injection in midfield could help the Merseyside giants make a strong surge for the Premier League title next season.
