Leicester City have looked a rejuvenated force since Claude Puel’s takeover as manager. They find themselves 8th in the league after a horrendous start to the first half of their campaign. However, the French boss is in need of further recruitments in order to push The Foxes and challenge for the European spots.
Leicester are ready to bid for Aston Villa youngster Jack Grealish after his stellar season with the Claret and Blue. Aston Villa find themselves 4th in the Championship table and are among the favourites to gain promotion through the playoffs. The Englishman’s move would take place if only Aston Villa fail to regain Premier League status next term
His season so far
The 22-year-old has featured in 24 league matches for The Villans thus far and has produced some brilliant performances. The youngster has racked up 3 goals and 5 assists despite having missed a huge chunk of the first half of the season due to a kidney problem.
Recently the creative midfielder bagged the winner against 2nd placed Cardiff City whilst also providing the winner against Leeds. Deployed in the attacking midfield role, Grealish is relishing the opportunity to lift Aston Villa back into the Premier League after a gap of 2 years.
The quality he possesses
The youngster is an excellent dribbler of the ball and can leave defenders behind with his pace and trickery. He makes an average 2.5 successful dribbles per game that verifies his quality as a dribbler. He also has an eye for a pass and has the ability to break down rigid defences.
However, the Englishman could improve his skill in front of goal as he is not the best of finishers. He could improve on his aerial prowess whilst also helping out the team in defence, something that is missing in his game.
Prospects at Leicester City
The Foxes are a team known to run down the channels and attack through their wingers in the form of Marc Albrighton and Riyadh Mahrez with the ever-present Jamie Vardy up front. In Jack Grealish, they could use another route to goal. His deployment in the centre attacking midfield role provides another dimension to Claude Puel if at all his primary plans fail to succeed in games.
It is evident from the current Leicester squad that they lack attacking midfielders who can operate centrally. Jack Grealish could be a good addition who is valued at £20m.
It remains to be seen if the young Englishman can prove to be the right option for Leicester City in their aim to challenge for Europe next term.
