Sam Allardyce does not seem to have done enough to keep his place at the helm of Goodison Park for another year but that has not stopped the club from scouting for players who can improve the squad next season. One such player Everton are extensively linked with a move for this summer is Barcelona star Paco Alcacer.
Barca Ready To Off-Load Alcacer:
La Liga giants Barcelona are close to landing French international Antoine Griezmann this summer and this might put an end to more than just one Barcelona career at the end of the season. Spanish ace Paco Alcacer, who is yet to impress at Camp Nou is sure to quit the club this summer and reports from Spain claim that a number of English clubs are interested in his services.
He is expected to cost close to €30m and the likes of Newcastle United, West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are all interested in his services. Is he a good option for the Toffees?
Alcacer And His Numbers:
The 13-time capped Spain international was at his best with Valencia, where he scored 30 goals in 93 La Liga outings before he was snapped up by Barcelona back in 2016. In over a year and half of football, Alcacer has failed to show enough promise to cement a place in the first team under Ernesto Valverde.
He has managed just seven La Liga starts this season, where he has three goals and two assists but he is no longer a first-team option at Camp Nou and is better off looking for regular game time elsewhere.
A natural finisher, who is at his best leading the attack, Alcacer is a strong and dominating striker, who loves to hold play up in dangerous areas and is usually effective with his movement in and around the box.
He loves to have the ball at his feet and is technically gifted, which allows him to find space and test the goalkeepers. He has been wasted on the wing for most of his Barcelona career but at just 24, he has a huge career ahead of him and will be a big coup for even the best teams in England.
How Does He Affect Everton’s Plans?
Alcacer is as good an option as any for Everton, who are yet to replace Romelu Lukaku’s goal-scoring prowess in the first team. Cenk Tosun is doing a decent job but his backups in Sandro Ramirez and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have not done enough to warrant a place in the first team next season and Alcacer is a safe bet.
He has the potential to be a match winner and at his age, he will only get better. At €30m, he is also not too expensive for someone of his skill set but do you think Everton should wait for a better option in the transfer market?
