Premier League giants Chelsea have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Fiorentina youngster Federico Chiesa!
Fiorentina boss Stefano Pioli has apparently admitted that he’s unsure over Chiesa’s long-term future at the club amidst interest from a host of top European outfits.
Federico Chiesa, who is the son of former Serie A player Enrico Chiesa, has been one of the rising stars in the Italian top flight this season. The 20-year-old has already notched up six goals and seven assists, which has helped Fiorentina remain in the top-seven in the league table this campaign.
Despite his lack of experience, the Italian sensation is already labelled as the next big thing in European football.
But that being said, his exceptional performances have also led to huge interest from a series of top-order clubs across Europe, including Chelsea.
The Premier League’s defending champions, who have suffered a lot this season, due to their inconsistency and lack of form, might undergo a squad overhaul in the upcoming summer transfer window and the addition of Federico Chiesa might be the step in the direction from Roman Abramovich’s men.
One of the main reasons behind Chelsea’s disappointing displays this season has been their inability to create enough goalscoring chances. The London giants have been incredibly ineffective in front of goal, largely due to the struggles of new signing Alvaro Morata.
Although Belgian superstar Eden Hazard still remains a threat to any Premier League defence, the 27-year-old has been linked with an exit this summer, with Real Madrid lurking around the corner. The departure of Hazard could prove to be a travesty for the Blues, in the attacking department. Therefore, Chelsea are in dire need of reinforcements in up the pitch.
Federico Chiesa could be the perfect addition to the squad this summer. Blessed with incredible technical qualities in the final third, the 20-year-old is someone who can add the spark that’s been missing from Chelsea this season.
In addition, the Fiorentina prodigy has also proved to be quite versatile and is unlikely to have any problem fitting into the tactical philosophy of the new manager, following the expected sacking of Antonio Conte after the end of the season.
With Chelsea set to miss out on Champions League action next season, it might be the perfect time for the Blues to hit the reset button once again and the addition of this highly talented Italian could definitely strengthen their squad for next season.
