As we head into the fag end of the season, Chelsea will be very disappointed with the way things have gone. They find themselves in desperate need for points and will hope that results elsewhere go their way if they are to secure a place among Europe’s elite next term.
Chelsea are planning ahead for the future as they eye Russian outfit CSKA Moscow youngster Aleksandr Golovin. The 21-year-old is reportedly open to making his move to the Londoners with Abramovich keen on the youngster.
However, Chelsea seem to be ready to loan him to Vitesse, a club renown to grasp Chelsea’s youngsters on the lookout for first-team football.
Who is Aleksandr Golovin?
Aleksandr Golovin is a 21-year-old Russian midfielder and a CSKA Moscow academy graduate and has come up the ranks to feature in the Militarians’ senior team. He made his senior debut at the tender age of 17 against FC Mordovia.
In the year 2013, Golovin won the 2013 UEFA European Under-17 Championship. He had a dream national side debut after he was brought on as a substitute against Belarus and scored his first ever senior international goal.
Style of play
The Russian youngster is predominantly a central midfielder and is a good passer of the ball. He can also be played in the more attacking areas of the pitch and offers his manager a number of options in terms of positions.
Golovin is a box to box player who is a master at dribbling whilst also doing his fair share of defensive work when the team needs him to. His dribbling was for all to see in the Europa League where he averaged 2.6 successful dribbles per game, a brilliant tally for a central midfield player.
With a pass success rate of 84%, the Russian is an all-round talent with huge potential.
South London the right choice?
Chelsea have earned an unwanted reputation of wasting many of their talented youngsters at their disposal. Cases like Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Mohamed Salah are just a minuscule part of this bracket. It has mainly taken place due to the unpreparedness on the part of The Blues to let their players develop and settle in the team over a period of time.
Aleksandr Golovin will be hoping that is not the case with him and will be hoping to impress the bosses at Chelsea. If at all a move materializes, a loan spree to Vitesse seems to be imminent and could help develop the youngster.
Should Chelsea capitalize on this talented youngster?
