Jurgen Klopp may not lift any silverware at Liverpool for yet another season but the progress he has made at Anfield is clear to even the pessimistic of the supporters. There are a few positions in the squad that need to be strengthened for them to compete with the best next season and while their midfield and defence will be given much thought, they will also be looking to improve the depth in the squad.
The duo of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah is one of the best wing-pairs in the game at the moment but have no natural backups in the first team and this has seen Liverpool turn their attention towards Stoke City star Ramadan Sobhi.
Salah Recommends Sobhi
According to an exclusive from TEAMtalk, Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah has given Klopp and Liverpool and glowing recommendation of young Ramadan Sobhi, which might see the Reds make a move for him in the summer.
A target for the Reds even before he joined Stoke City, Sobhi is expected to cost around £15m, which could further reduce if the Potters fail to avoid the drop. So is Sobhi an option for Liverpool?
Sobhi And His Numbers
A product of the Al Ahly academy, the same academy that produced Salah, Sobhi moved to Stoke City in 2016 as a teenager and has had his moments in England. With just two goals in 36 appearances, he has not set the league on fire but he has made just 17 league starts to date and deserves more chances at the highest level.
A left-sided winger who has decent technique and dangerous pace to burn, the 21-year old can also put in a shift as a wing-back and is a disciplined player to have on the wing. He loves to have the ball at his feet and is usually positive in possession but is more than capable of sitting deep and soaking up the pressure, waiting for a mistake to pounce on.
At just 21, he has shown great strength in hold up play and his composure under pressure only makes him that much dangerous. He still has a lot of room for improvement but for a player his age, he is as exciting as they get.
Right Man For Liverpool
With 19 appearances already for the Egyptian national side, Sobhi has worked a lot with Salah and could help Liverpool keep the former AS Roma man at the club for years to come. What he will also give is some depth to the squad at Anfield.
While Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana, Georginio Wijnaldum and even Roberto Firmino can play on the wings, Liverpool need players who can naturally provide width and Sobhi fits the bill perfectly.
He will not walk into the first team but will get his chances under Klopp and work alongside the likes of Sadio Mane and Salah will only get the best out of him. At just £15m, he is a risk worth taking but is the right man for Liverpool?
