Transfer News:
Manchester United and rumours surrounding big players being linked to the Red Devils form an unbreakable bond. Rumours these days fail to make sense most of the times, however, the magnitude of the news cannot be ignored in the modern world.
After all, who would have predicted Neymar switching to PSG, huh?
Therefore, the latest reports from the good folk over at the Sun state that Manchester United and Chelsea will be battling it out to secure the signature of Robert Lewandowski. Well, actually, both the clubs have most recently signed two quality young strikers and hence this rumour is quite difficult to digest, but still let’s analyze the prospects of Lewandowski landing at West Manchester.
Lewandowski- The Best Striker in Europe?
Robert Lewandowski is an absolute gem of a player and is undoubtedly one of the best strikers in the whole of Europe. He is quick on the feet, strong with either foot and can finish off any chances quite easily. The Pole is a fox in the box kind of player, as his positioning and movement inside the box are incomparable. He is equally strong in the air and can be lethal on the counter attacks too.
Lewandowski has the physical strength and attributes to lead the line consistently for any top European club. His tendency to get to the ball quicker than others, also his hold-up play and finishing finesse make him a much better striker than anyone in Europe; except, maybe a certain Harry Kane.
He is NOT the man for United:
Despite all the qualities that I have stated in the above paragraph, Robert Lewandowski is definitely not the man Manchester United would target this summer. The Pole would want to move away from Germany to try his luck in other leagues. However, Manchester United have recently signed Romelu Lukaku for a huge fee and then swapped up Alexis Sanchez last month too.
While Lukaku is primarily a striker, Sanchez can play anywhere in the attacking positions. United also have the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial to play in the centre-forward slot too. Jose is not short of options in that department and will certainly use his players accordingly. Though, it can be understood that Lewandowski would want to leave Bayern, Manchester United will most likely refrain away from making a move for him.
It can dent the confidence of a young player like Lukaku and the wage bill will increase substantially too. The rumoured signing will restrain the playing time of Rashford and Martial and that would be an utter disappointment for the club itself. Moreover, the team needs strengthening in the middle of the park and hence they would look to sign midfielders rather than a marquee striker like Robert Lewandowski.
