In a little more than two years in his term at Anfield, German tactician Jurgen Klopp has given Liverpool a new identity but his squad is far from complete and needs a few additions, in particular positions, to compete for silverware next season.
The midfield is one area Klopp is desperate to add new faces to and the latest name on his wish list for the summer transfer window is PSG star Adrien Rabiot.
Rabiot Unsure of PSG Future:
According to reports in France, French international Adrien Rabiot is currently unhappy with his situation at Parc des Princes and is looking for a new challenge in the next campaign. Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly interested in his services and valued at just over £40m, he will certainly attract more clubs as the end of the season approaches.
So should Liverpool take an initiative to sign the 22-year old?
Rabiot And His Quality:
Having spent time at the academy at Manchester City in the past, Rabiot was introduced to the French top flight by PSG back in 2012 and ever since he has turned into one of the most reputable midfielders in Europe. A central midfielder who is effective in build-up play, Rabiot is a gifted footballer with a keen eye for a defence-splitting pass.
His vision and technique make him hard to contain in the middle of the park and his eagerness to win the ball back deep inside his half is what makes him even more effective. The intelligence and composure he shows, even in the tightest of situations is what is attracting the likes of Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klopp.
Having won three league titles in his time in France, the 22-year old has already made 143 Ligue 1 appearances and 31 UCL appearances, where he has notched up 16 goals and 17 assists to his name collectively. He also has five caps for his national side and will be integral to the French national side in Russia later this year.
Right Man For Liverpool?
The Reds are set to welcome Naby Keita at the end of the season but latest comments from star midfielder Emre Can might push them into the transfer market for another midfielder. While they are already searching for a no.6, who can sit deep and dictate play, Rabiot is an upgrade on every other option Liverpool has for the other midfield roles in the 4-3-3 system under Klopp.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita could be the first choice next season but Rabiot adds more balance to the squad and could be a game changer at Anfield. But do you think he is the right man for the Reds?
