Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth have stepped up their interest for the services of Bristol City midfielder Bobby Reid, as per reports. Several of the Bournemouth officials attended Bristol City’s game against Ipswich last week and a move for the player could be made in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old midfielder has been one of the most promising players in the Championships this season, scoring 17 goals, which has helped his side remain in the midst of playoff places, in the league table.
Therefore, it’s obvious that the English midfielder will want to move to the Premier League next season, following a string of fine performances in the second division, with Bournemouth interested.
The Cherries, on the other hand, have been quite impressive under the leadership of Eddie Howe and are currently tenth in the Premier League table but might face a host of difficulties next season.
Hence, the club from the South-West of England will be keen to strengthen their squad in the upcoming summer window and the addition of Bobby Reid could be an ideal move for the club.
In fact, the Cherries have lacked the services of a dynamic central attacking midfielder in their ranks this season, which was ultimately elevated the offensive burden on the likes of Joshua King and Ryan Fraser.
Although both of these players have fared rather well, scoring five goals each, it’s only a matter of time before they fail to keep their momentum throughout the season and the Cherries could be in deep trouble, should either of them pick up a nasty injury.
Therefore, the addition of Bobby Reid makes sense, considering the fact that Bristol City star has already shown what he’s capable of, in the Championship this season. The 25-year-old is gifted with tremendous tenacity, which is definitely suited to Eddie Howe’s playing philosophy.
Since moving to the club in 2015, Bobby Reid has developed into a talented and versatile midfield option for Bristol City.
While he had played in the midfield position for the most part of last season, Reid was given a more attacking role this campaign and the results have amazing, to say the least, which is clearly evident in his super-impressive scoring tally.
In addition, the 25-year-old can also play as an auxiliary forward, meaning he can also provide the much necessary versatility as well as variety in the centre of the park for head coach Eddie Howe next season.
