Tottenham Hotspur Linked With German Starlet: Why Pochettino Should Make A Move

Having managed to compete with the best in England over the last few seasons, Tottenham Hotspur will now want to turn their momentum into tangible success over the course of the next few seasons. They are looking to improve on an already impressive squad and Mauricio Pochettino has been scouting some of the finest prospects in Europe recently.

One such player Tottenham Hotspur will try to sign in the summer is German starlet Jann-Fiete Arp.

Arp Could Be Available On The Cheap:

A transfer target for the English outfit even in the summer, Arp has been in superb form for Bundesliga outfit Hamburger, who are currently struggling to move out of the drop zone in the German top flight. And reports from Germany now claim that the 18-year old is expected to sign a new contract at Volksparkstadion, which will include a relegation clause.

The clause will allow Spurs or any other suitor to prise Arp away on the cheap if Der Dino are relegated this season. It is also reported that Spurs might meet his valuation, even if they survive the drop but is the teenager worth all the fuss?

Arp And His Potential:

A product of the academy at Hamburger, the Germany U17 international broke into the first team this season, becoming the first player born in this millennium to make a Bundesliga appearance. He has six starts already and has scored a couple of goals in back to back league games earlier in the season.

A centre-forward, who can play in a supporting role through the middle, Arp has an astonishing 18 goals in 19 appearances for the Germany U17 side and is one of the most highly rated teenagers in his country.

Known for his positioning and movement in the final third and his ability to find the back of the net from different angles and ranges, the 18-year old is a player hard to mark. He is quick with his twists and turns and is intelligent in finding space and time around the box. He has the ability to embarrass even the best of defenders while his composure and technique on the ball, make him all the more dangerous.

He is improving by the game, learning all the facets needed to compete at the highest level. And at just 18, he will only get better and is a superstar in the making.

Spurs His Best Shot?

His potential has seen most of the top clubs in Europe scout him already. The likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will probably be favourites to land him at the end of the season but Pochettino’s reputation to bring the best out of youngsters, might be enough to lure him to England.

Spurs are currently struggling to find an able backup for Harry Kane. Though Fernando Llorente has not done much wrong, he is not a long-term option and having Arp in this lineup has the potential to solve this problem at the club for a long time to come.

The German youngster can learn from Kane and Llorente for at least a year and if he can impress, he will probably be the first choice replacement for the English international in the first team. His age will not be a factor under the Argentine manager but the pressure of English football might be too much too soon for the Hamburger boy!

But do you think Spurs should make a move for him in the summer?
