Having managed to cement their place in the top half of the table, after an average start to the campaign, Leicester City had a busy January transfer window, as they looked to consolidate their place in the points table. They added the likes of Fousseni Diabate and Callum Wright, having also managed to register midfielder Adrien Silva finally, the Foxes are still looking to improve the overall squad, in the long term.
This has seen them keep tabs on a few players and one such player, who might be up for grabs this summer is Daniel Opare.
Opare Storms Out Of Meeting:
According to reports, the Foxes had a €2.5m bid rejected for his services late in the winter transfer window with his parent club Augsburg, valuing him at €5m.
And it is now reported that he stormed out of a meeting with the club officials and has threatened to leave the club on a free in the summer as his contract expires at the end of the season. FC Schalke are also interested in his services but should Leicester City continue to track him?
Opare And His Record:
Having broken into the Ghana national team after a three-year break last year, the 27-year old has played for clubs like Real Madrid Castilla, FC Porto and Besiktas, before he settled in at Augsburg in 2015. However, he has failed to establish himself in the first team at the Augsburg Arena, making just 22 appearances so far for the German outfit.
However, he has 17 starts this season and has turned into the first choice RB for the club at the moment. Known for his dribbling and pace on the flank, Opare is a dominating presence inside his own box, where he loves to close down spaces and win the ball back quickly. He loves to stay ahead of the game, catching opponents off guard and loves to go on the offensive.
He has to work on his aerial ability if he wants to be a success in England but he is strong and defensively disciplined, which has attracted Claude Puel.
Chances At King Power:
The former English Champions have stuck with Danny Simpson as their first choice right-back this season. He is now 31 and has very little back up in the first team. The likes of Daniel Amartey and Aleksandar Dragovic have done well when asked to at RB but both of them are needed in other roles, leaving a hole on the right side of the defence for the Foxes.
Opare may not be the best option available but coming on a free at the end of the season, he is definitely a risk worth taking. At 27, with all his experience, he can surely turn into a first team star at King Power, but do you think he is the right man for the club?
