Manchester City bullied Arsenal at Wembley Stadium today as the Cityzens clinched the Carabao Cup by banging three goals without getting any befitting reply from the Gunners. Goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva ensured their victory, and there is no denying that Pep Guardiola’s side deserved to kiss the silverware after an abject outing from Arsenal.
Here is how we rated and slated Arsenal’s player from their disappointing defeat.
David Ospina 5/10
The Columbian custodian piled pressure on Arsenal’s backline with his improper ball distribution. However, he could have hardly done anything to stop conceding the goals.
Calum Chambers 5/10
It was surprising to see Chambers being thrown in the game by Wenger. The Englishman fared well initially but really struggled in the second half.
Shkodran Mustafi 3/10
Mustafi was responsible for Aguero’s goal as it was dreadful to see him getting outmuscled by the Argentine with relative ease. His positional sense was completely messed up.
Laurent Koscielny 5/10
The Frenchman’s level dropped alarmingly and he failed to inspire his side in any manner whatsoever.
Hector Bellerin 4/10
Leroy Sane caused all sorts of trouble for Bellerin during the game and the Spaniard had almost no impact while going forward.
Nacho Monreal 4/10
Monreal started well on the left but was replaced in the first half after suffering an injury owing to his clash Kyle Walker.
Granit Xhaka 3/10
The Swiss international was sloppy in the middle of the park and gave away possession pretty easily. He was never able to engineer a commanding spot for himself in the game and looked quite timorous.
Jack Wilshere 6/10
Arguably the best player for the north London outfit, Wilshere was creative at times and showcased a lot of industry. However, he faded later on.
Aaron Ramsey 5/10
The Welshman showed absolutely no signs of his groin injury as he worked tirelessly on the pitch. Sadly, he couldn’t be the Wembley hero this time around.
Mesut Ozil 3/10
On a day where a lot was expected from the German maestro, he remained hidden in invisibility cloak more often than not. Ozil drifted wide and couldn’t create anything spectacular.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 3/10
The newcomer was kept in check by Vincent Kompany throughout the game. He had a great chance early on but failed to make the most of it as he allowed Walker to deny him from scoring.
Substitutions
Sead Kolasinac 3/10
Kolasinac replaced Monreal but could never make him appear as a commendable commodity while going forward.
Danny Welbeck 4/10
He showed some spirit after coming on in the second half but couldn’t manoeuvre any output.
Alex Iwobi 3/10
Iwobi made no impact after coming on the pitch late in the second half.
