Wolverhampton Wanderers have bulldozed past their opponents in the Championship more often than not this season. They have collected 61 points from 26 games and are deservingly placed at the top of the league table. From what has transpired so far, it appears that they are going to be the one to lift the league silverware and would be one of the three clubs to secure a promotion to the Premier League.
Although under the tutelage of Nuno Espirito Santo, the Wolves have hardly shown any weakness, the Portuguese is unlikely to be complacent in his endeavours. We expect the Wanderers to do some quality business to meet their needs, not only for the remainder of this season but for the coming seasons as well. As per one of the latest reports, they are understood to be in the race to sign Norwich City’s sensation, James Maddison.
Maddison has dazzled in the Championship this season for the Canaries, having scored 6 goals and has also registered 5 assists in 24 appearances in the English second division. His pass completion rate of 87.4% has also caught a lot of attention from the football fraternity and no wonder the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have also placed him in their wish-list.
Despite being a 21-year-old, Maddison has shown a great deal of maturity and calmness and has knitted the side together as a unit most of the time. He reads the game brilliantly, is extremely industrious and is always looking to push the side forward. Besides, he has shown time and again that he could be an excellent choice for taking set-pieces and has been a commendable player for Norwich City.
He has an excellent eye for the right pass exposing the weakness of the opposition’s defence and creates space for himself as well as for his teammates. Norwich City, however, are currently in no hurry to strike one of their prized assets off their books as their current financial situation appears to be quite stable.
With interest from the big clubs, the resolve of Daniel Farke’s side would be tested this month if bids come looking to prise Maddison out of Carrow Road. Wolves should also keep a close track on him and try to sign him, for the youngster has been one of the major talking points in the Championship this season and has shown the potential to thrive in the Premier League as well.
