Wolverhampton Wanderers have dazzled in the Championship this season under the stewardship of Nuno Espirito Santo. So far, the troops have showcased remarkable calibre in almost every aspect on the pitch. Espirito Santo’s side are currently at the top of the league table with 62 points to their name from 28 outings, 9 points above second-placed Derby County.
Given the current scenario, they are arguably going to add the Championship silverware to their trophy cabinet at the end of the season and get one of the two direct tickets to the lucrative and highly competitive Premier League. Despite signing Rafael Mir Vicente earlier this month, the Portuguese is expected to fish in the transfer market again before the window closes.
As per one of the latest reports by Bristol Post, the Wolves are understood to be desirous to prise Yasin Ben El-Mhanni out of St. James’ Park this month. El-Mhanni’s future at Newcastle United seems to be clouded by uncertainty and given that he needs to ply his trade regularly and resurrect his career, he might personally look for an exit this month.
The lack of game time with the Geordies has been really taking a toll on him. After signing him in the summer of 2016, Newcastle handed him two starts in the FA Cup last year and since then, he has been overlooked by Benitez. The Daily Star has reported that apart from the Wanderers, Leicester City and Stoke City are also monitoring him closely.
The 22-year-old has got the versatility to operate as a striker as well as a winger and it is his trickery with the ball that must have appealed to Espirito Santo. He has the pace required but his potential has been rather suppressed by a lack of game time. To channelize his developmental process in the right direction, he needs to be backed up by the manager and given the pedestal to thrive.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have sanctioned the move of Michal Zyro on loan to League One outfit, Charlton Athletic. Thus, they might be keen to lure an attacker to the Molineux Stadium to keep the depth of their squad intact.
Though a move to the thriving Wolves might seem enticing and rosy at the outset, the fact that the available forwards have delivered till this point means that Yasin is unlikely o feature too much here as well unless Nuno has some special plans up his sleeve for the youngster.
