West Bromwich Albion Looking To Sign Versatile German Attacker: Can He Propel Them To Safety?

West Bromwich Albion suddenly look like one of the busiest sides in the January transfer window. Alan Pardew, who only took charge of the club last month, is already looking to improve on his options in the squad at the Hawthorns and this has seen him linked with some exciting players from Europe.

But one name that is exciting the fans is World Cup winner Andre Schurrle.

West Brom Want Schurrle On Loan:

Currently playing at Borussia Dortmund, Schurrle has struggled to get into the first team at Signal Iduna Park and is up for grabs on loan this month. Dortmund want to off-load the German star and are ready to send him out on loan, in a bid to reduce their wage bill.

Newcastle United and West Brom are both interested in his services and with Dortmund ready to subsidize his wages, Pardew is convinced that he is a risk worth taking. West Brom themselves have to off-load a player to afford signing new ones but is Schurrle worth all this hassle?

Versatile And Effective:

Having worked in the Premier League before with Chelsea, Schurrle has an English title in an impressive CV he has built over the years in Germany and in England. He has a total of 50 goals and 34 appearances in 195 Bundesliga games for four different German clubs but has managed just two starts in the domestic league this season for Dortmund.

He also has 22 goals in 57 appearances for the German national side and is a serious upgrade to the options West Brom have at the moment.

A centre-forward, who can pull a job on the wings, Schurrle is a smart footballer, who does not have gifted ability. But his understanding of the game and a keen eye for goal have made him an effective footballer. He is a lethal finisher, who loves to lurk in the spaces between the backline. He is adept at making space for himself in the final third and testing the keepers, which is a nightmare for most defences.

He may not be the best at what he does but his attitude and hard work on the field fits straight into the motto at West Brom.

Chances At West Brom:

With neither Jay Rodriguez nor Hal-Robson Kanu showing enough to displace an out of sorts Salomon Rondon in the attack, the Baggies are desperate for a player who can add goals to their side in the business end of the season.

Schurrle, with his experience and quality, can, not only be used as a lone striker but can be a part of a dynamic midfield behind the main striker, adding numbers to attack when needed. His versatility and previous experience in the league will give him a chance to make an immediate impact on the side.

He will have the responsibility of bringing West Brom out of the drop zone and far away from it but do you think he is the right man for the job?
