Tottenham Hotspur Looking To Sign Promising English Defender: One For The Future?

Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Stevenage defender, Ben Wilmot, according to the Independent. Wilmot has emerged as one of the blossoming starlets of English football of late and apart from Spurs, the likes of Liverpool and Southampton are keeping a close tab on him. Thus, it will not be a walk in the park for Tottenham to make him sign on the dotted line.

Wilmot emerged through the youth academy of his current club and made rapid progress in his development. In the ranks of Stevenage, the 18-year-old has established himself as a very bright prospect and has the potential to be a star for any Premier League side in a few years down the line. The Boro, owing to the apparent interest from various clubs, have slapped a price tag of £850,000 on his collar.

So far this season, he has been handed 3 appearances in the FA Cup, 2 starts in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and 1 game in League Two and he has been sharpening up his skills considerably. Wilmot is a resolute centre-back whose strongest suits include his dribbling skills as well as the knack to make shrewd tackles and interceptions to bail his side out of danger.

He is a modern-day defender, who would not only sit back to defend but would also gallop forward whenever the situation permits him to do so and assist his teammates in the offensive endeavours.
