Sam Allardyce took over at Everton not so long ago and has already made a positive impact on an impressive squad at Goodison Park. The manager has his first shot at signing players this month, as the transfer window is now open. This has seen the club linked with a number of star players and one player they are desperate for is AC Milan star, Andre Silva.
Everton failed to replace Romelu Lukaku in the summer and though they have already spent on Cenk Tosun this month, the club want the Serie A man a well. So is he a name they need to sign?
Transfer Story:
According to reports from Quotidiano Sportivo, Andre Silva’s £33.5m move to AC Milan from FC Porto in the summer has been already termed as a failure. The Serie A giants are convinced that he is not a player that can help them in the long run and are already looking to cut their losses and off-load him, mid-way through the season.
A number of top clubs are interested in his signature but it is understood that Everton are one of the favourites to land him this month.
Andre Silva And His Numbers:
A product of the academy at Porto, the Portuguese international is one of the most exciting youngsters on display in the country. He had a productive time for the senior side at the PAT Stadium where he managed 17 goals in 41 appearances, in just two seasons.
However, he failed to bring that form to Italy, scoring just six goals all season, none in the domestic league. He has already represented his national side and has scored 11 goals in 18 appearances, which shows his ability at the highest level.
Known for his technical ability and his vision in the final third, Silva is a smart footballer, who is always aware of his duties. He is a hard-working striker, who loves to break the lines and disrupt defences while his strength in the air and in hold up play are what makes him more dangerous.
He is also an excellent finisher but has just not been able to settle in Milan and Everton are ready to offer him a way out.
Chances at Everton:
The Toffees spent on Spanish star Sandro Ramirez in the summer but have used Oumar Niasse and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to lead the line in most games this season. The summer arrival has failed to have any kind of an impact and may even be sold soon and Allardyce is expected to start Cenk Tosun, their most recent buy, to lead the line for his side for the rest of the season.
This is what makes this move for Silva a bizarre one. The Portuguese star could cost more than the Turkish star Everton have already signed and if they do spend such amounts on yet another striker, it is imperative that they have him in the first team.
But Silva’s form this season will see him struggle to settle in at Everton as well, making this move a tough one for all parties. More so with the World Cup coming up. The 22-year old will not want to be unsettled just months before the showdown and will hope that he can revive his career in Italy. But do you think Everton should go all in for him?
