In his first transfer window at Everton, new manager Sam Allardyce was always bound to make a number of changes to his first team and he has already completed moves for a couple of star players this month. While Turkish striker Cenk Tosun has already made his debut for the club, after joining just this month, Everton have now also landed Arsenal outcast Theo Walcott this week.
The 29-year old had struggled to get into the first team at the Emirates this season and to save his World Cup dream, has now completed a £20m switch to the Merseyside. He has signed a three-year deal with the club and is expected to walk into the first team this weekend.
He is an experienced campaigned with 270 Premier League outings, 59 UCL outings and 47 caps for the English national side and is a great addition to the squad at Goodison Park. He is a proven goal scorer and has three goals and two assists in 5 Europa League starts this season, showing his quality.
Allardyce has tinkered with a 3-4-3 system at times this season but his strongest XI could come in the form of 4-2-3-1 setup. Jordan Pickford remains the first choice shot-stopper while young Jonjoe Kenny and Cuco Martina (until Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman are back from injury) are the full-backs in Everton’s strongest XI.
Phil Jagielka and Michael Keane have not been in the good books of the English manager, who has stuck with Mason Holgate and Ashley Williams as the first choice at the back. Idrissa Gueye, one of the most effective midfielders in the league this season should find a place in the midfield in this XI alongside Morgan Schneiderlin, who should be the first choice for Allardyce.
Skipper Wayne Rooney has been the best player for Everton this season, playing in a no.10 role. He keeps his place in Everton’s strongest XI, leaving newbie Cenk Tosun to lead the line. The former Besiktas star did well in his first outing in Blue and will eventually come good.
The record buy Gylfi Sigurdsson is yet to kick-off his Everton career but still remains one of the best players in the squad at Goodison Park. He is expected to start on the left flank with Allardyce sticking the £20m rated Theo Walcott on the right flank.
The likes of Aaron Lennon and Yannick Bolasie are other wingers in the squad but Walcott, his experience and previous record, should see him start on the right flank.
