Manchester United and Manchester City amongst clubs who should target this versatile Brazilian

Clubs in pursuit of Monaco superstar Fabinho have been given a huge boost as the Brazilian confirmed that his time at the Ligue 1 outfit might be coming to an end.

In an interview with Lance!, the defender stated, “My time at Monaco has been great, I managed to win a title, now I believe my time here might be coming to an end.

“I know that the club’s goal is to take second place [in Ligue 1] and earn a spot in the Champions League, not to sign big-name players but rather youngsters to give them their start.

“I believe that I have been through that, I came here as a nobody, made my name in the club, achieved things; so maybe I need something new, a new challenge.”

The Brazilian international has already attracted a host of interest from several top clubs around Europe. In this article, we will talk about three clubs who should definitely make a move for the highly versatile midfielder.

Manchester United

Premier League giants Manchester United has been labelled as one of the favourites to land the Brazilian, as per reports.

Following the signing of Alexis Sanchez, the Red Devils are looking for a midfielder, who can replace the ageing Michael Carrick and Fabinho is tailor-made for that job.

Known for his versatility of playing either as a right-back or a defensive midfielder, Fabinho is perfectly suited under the tactical ethos of Jose Mourinho. His defensive solidity will allow the likes of Paul Pogba and Juan Mata to have more freedom in the attacking third.

Manchester City

Manchester United’s arch-rivals Manchester City is also a potential destination for Fabinho.

The Citizens have been in fine form this season, currently running away with the Premier League title with a staggering 65 points in just 24 matches. However, that being said, Pep Guardiola still has a lot of homework to do regarding his overall squad composition.

Fernandinho has been their only reliable CDM option this season and although the Brazilian midfielder has performed really well, earning himself a new contract in the process, at 32 years old, he isn’t getting any younger.

Therefore, Fabinho could prove to be an ideal long-term replacement for his fellow countryman while his versatility will definitely aid Guardiola at Manchester City.

Last but not the least, it’s Arsenal who should definitely try and persuade Fabinho to move to the Emirates.

The North-London giants have struggled a lot this season, often failing to maintain consistency throughout the course of the season. In addition, the Gunners are on the brink of facing a mass exodus this January following the departures of Francis Coquelin, Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott.

Therefore, the addition of Fabinho would be well appreciated among the Arsenal faithful, not only because it will solve their midfield problems but also significantly improve their overall quality.
