Bundesliga midfield star allowed to look for club: Should Chelsea re-ignite interest?

Antonio Conte does not seem too impressed with the options at his disposal and has been a busy man this January, trying to add some quality to his first team. This has seen the Blues, who have already landed Ross Barkley this season, linked with a move for some star players and one name exciting the fans is Chilean midfielder, Arturo Vidal.

Bayern Agree To Sell Vidal:

A transfer target for both Manchester United and Chelsea from the summer transfer window, Vidal has fallen down the pecking order under Jupp Heynckes, the new Bayern coach, and reports now claim that he could be sold in the coming transfer window.

Reports from German outfit Bild claim that the German giants have given Vidal the permission to open talks about a potential move at the end of the season. They have already signed Leon Goretzka, who will move in the summer so Vidal is now up for sale. But should Chelsea go all in for him?

Vidal And His Experience:

Having first moved to Europe with Bayer Leverkusen, Vidal made 117 Bundesliga appearances before he was picked up by Italian giants Juventus back in 2011. After 4 successful years in Turin, he moved on to Bayern Munich in 2015 and spent two successful years at the club.

In the last decade, Vidal has won four Serie A titles, two Bundesliga titles and back to back Copa America titles with the Chilean national team in 2015 and 2016. At 30, he is an experienced midfielder, with 191 Bundesliga appearances, 124 Serie A appearances and 51 UCL appearances to add to 97 appearances for the national side.

A box-to-box midfielder, who loves to put in crunching tackles, Vidal is renowned for his late runs into the final third. He is a marauding presence in the midfield, winning balls back quickly and breaking up play. He has a great understanding of the game and always stays a step ahead of the opponents, making him a dangerous midfielder.

He is adept at sitting back and providing cover for his back four but is a genuine match winner on his day, who can add creativity at the other end. He is one of the most established midfielders in Europe at the moment and even at his age, would walk into most top clubs in Europe.

While Chelsea have a number of players in midfield at the moment, Vidal will be an upgrade on all of them and hence, a renewed move for him will not surprise too many people if it comes at any stage in the near future.
