Tottenham Hotspur were back to their relentless best, scoring goals in heaps, as they looked like a rejuvenated team in the second half in their crucial contest against Stoke City. Let us see how each player fared in the game:
Hugo Lloris: 6/10
Strong and commanding inside the box, Lloris arranged the defence well and dealt well with Shaqiri on a couple of occasions. Could have done better with the conceded goal though.
Kieran Trippier: 7/10
Spurs haven’t felt the absence of Kyle Walker thanks to the form of Kieran Trippier these days. Trippier made some fruitful runs down the flank and was strong in defence too.
Eric Dier: 7/10
Dier was quite safe and sound at the heart of the defence, faring better than his outings here earlier on in the season. He cramped Stoke for room and stuck to his task.
Jan Vertonghen: 8/10
Went on his traditional runs to unsettle the Stoke midfield on a couple of occasions. Linked well with Dembele and Winks and tracked back on time whenever required.
Ben Davies: 8/10
Davies was at his influential best in the other half and his runs helped Spurs win the battle on the flanks. His crosses and key passes into the box helped Spurs create many chances in the other half.
Mousa Dembele: 7/10
Dembele has made a steady return from injury and teamed up well with Winks to boss the midfield. Made some crucial interceptions and kept possession of the ball.
Harry Winks: 9/10
Winks anchored the midfield well as he kept on playing passes, linking up with Son on some occasions. He was strong defensively too and won some important balls during the course of the game. His tackles were perfect, which overall capped off a complete performance from the Englishman.
Son-Heung Min: 9/10
Was a menace throughout and troubled the hapless Stoke defenders during his time on the pitch. Probably the most underrated player in the League.
Dele Alli: 7/10
Did a lot of running, while dropping back deep to win the ball and then initiate the attacks from there. He played some good balls in the other half too and earned a well-deserved assist.
Christian Eriksen: 8/10
The Danish midfielder was a menace in the other half, often testing Stoke’s defence with some good through balls. Finished off cleanly from Son’s pass.
Harry Kane: 8/10
Kane was relatively quiet in the first half when he failed to finish off some easy chances. However, he was back with a bang in the last forty-five minutes while netting two times to steer Spurs clear of Stoke.
Substitutes:
Erik Lamela: 6/10
Lamela is being used sparingly ever since his return from injury, though he has shown early signs of good recovery. Covered a lot of ground in limited time.
Fernando Llorente: 6/10
Llorente was brought in to add to the aerial threat but he was not involved much with the ball in that time.
