Liverpool’s Predicted Lineup vs Southampton
Liverpool’s clash against Southampton has mostly been surrounded by the talks of Virgil Van Dijk’s summer transfer fiasco. It is no secret that Jurgen Klopp wants the Dutch centre back to lead his backline and the Saints are adamant about keeping him with them. However, there is a lot to the game other than this with Liverpool looking to keep pace with the top 4. But what complicates matters is the fact that Southampton are unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions against Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp will hope that his team unleashes their envious attacking force to dismantle Southampton this weekend.
Team News
Adam Lallana has returned to training but there is no chance of him featuring in this match according to Klopp though he might spring a late surprise. Clyne remains injured while Matip is also set to miss this tie. Henderson is in line to feature while Mane might not be risked from the start.
Formation: 4-3-3
Defence
Simon Mignolet has shown signs of improvement after a horrible display against Tottenham last month and will start. The central defensive pairing will be that of Klavan and Lovren while the fullbacks will be Gomez and Moreno.
Alberto Moreno has been the most stable and probably the best Liverpool defender till now. His attacking and defensive capabilities have been well utilized by the manager and he will certainly look to carry on the positive start.
Midfield
The increasingly strong Liverpool midfield contingent will have the returning Lallana who is unlikely to start but it is certainly a boost for the team. Coutinho is likely to slot into the midfield and will bring his usual dose of flair and creativity. Henderson might be preferred to Can while Wijnaldum will complete the trio. Chamberlain is likely to be the unlucky one to miss out.
Attack
Sadio Mane should be starting this game if fully fit as his pace and directness is likely to catch Southampton on the wrong foot early on. On the opposite flank, Salah will be starting and he will look to carry on his terrific goalscoring form and he will surely be the man to watch out for. Up front, the Brazilian, Firmino is likely to ward off the challenge of Daniel Sturridge who will be expecting a start sooner rather than later with the Brazilian misfiring in front of goal lately.
