The story so far
Mauricio Pochettino has started his season with Tottenham Hotspur in decent fashion as they sit in the fifth position with seven points from four games. They capped off last week with an impressive 3-0 win against Ronald Koeman’s Everton.
Here is Tottenham Hotspur’s predicted lineup for the match against Swansea City this weekend:
Formation: 3-4-2-1
GK: Hugo Lloris
There is no doubt regarding the Frenchman’s place in the side. Lloris is a confirmed starter for the Spurs and is the main man between the posts.
CB: Toby Alderweireld
The Belgian is one of the leading men for the Spurs at the heart of the defence. He made 30 appearances in the league last season and his presence is a huge boost for other defenders. This season too, he has appeared in all the four matches and put in some decent performances.
CB: Davinson Sanchez
The new signing added a new element to Hotspur’s already strong defence. Sanchez is a tough tackler and makes some neat forward passes. Pocchettino will expect a lot from this youngster.
CB: Jan Vertonghen
Jan Vertonghen has been a trustworthy player for the club and Pochettino supports him a lot. He will continue to lead the defence and most probably star in all of the Spurs’ matches.
RM(D): Kieren Trippier
The Englishman will finally have an opportunity to cement his place in the lineup after the departure of Kyle Walker. Once a regular for Burnley, Trippier found himself sidelined for the majority of the matches last season. This year, even though Serge Aurier has been bought, he is likely to get a fair chance to prove his credentials initially.
LM(D): Ben Davies
Ben Davies will play in this position until Danny Rose returns to full fitness. However, Rose’s recent comments about the lack of ambition of Tottenham must have enraged the bosses. Hence, there is a slight rumour that Ben Davies is going to be a regular starter instead of Danny Rose.
CM: Moussa Sissoko
The French international is kind of a fulcrum in Tottenham’s starting eleven. He takes up the responsibility to shield the defence, play the ball around the midfield and make some rampaging runs in the opposition’s half. Sissoko will be an important element in Tottenham’s squad.
CM: Eric Dier
Dier has developed into an important player for Tottenham in the last couple of years and his versatility makes him an invaluable asset for the Spurs.
AM: Christian Eriksen
It has been evident from recent matches that Eriksen is the force behind all the creativity in the final third for the Spurs. His ability to take amazing set pieces, make some defence-splitting through balls and constantly surge into the opposition’s box is breathtaking. Mauricio Pocchettino trusts him enough to ensure that he starts every single match when available.
AM: Dele Alli
The English youngster has developed into one of the best forwards in the Premier League and continues to progress in every single match. Dele Alli is an undoubted starter for Tottenham Hotspur.
ST: Harry Kane
Arguably, the best striker in the Premier League. His movement off the ball, as well as his decision-making power, are impressive. Kane is one of the best finishers in world football and hence remains a key aspect for Tottenham’s future. All eyes will be on him as he is expected to come up with something special against the Swans.
