The last few days of the summer transfer window are expected to be a bit busy at Anfield as Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool are still in the transfer market to try and add some quality players to the side that qualified for the group stages of the Champions League recently. This has seen them linked with some of the finest stars in Europe recently and one such player who is extensively linked with a move to Anfield is Renato Sanches.
Liverpool wants Sanches on loan
The Reds have been desperate for a midfield signing this summer but have not been able to land top transfer target in Naby Keita. They seem to have finally given up on him as reports from German news outfit Kicker (via Guardian) claim that Liverpool have made their move to take the Portuguese youngster on loan till the end of the season.
Also wanted by Chelsea and Manchester United, Sanches asked to be left out of the club’s squad that beat Werder Bremen earlier today. The reports claim that he wanted to ponder over his future and it is understood that Liverpool is an option that excites him. So, is a he a decent addition to the squad at Anfield?
Sanches and his potential
Have risen to the limelight with a fantastic EURO16 with the Portuguese national side in France, Sanches has turned into one of the most exciting young midfielders in Europe but he was not able to keep up the good work in his time at the Allianz Arena. He joined the German champions just last summer but is yet to establish himself in the first team and Carlo Ancelotti is happy to let him leave on loan to gather some experience.
A central midfielder by trait, Sanches is adept at playing as the deepest of the midfielders where he can dictate play, sitting in front of the backline. He is a creative force in the midfield, as he constantly looks to dribble past opponents and set up chances for his side. He rarely misplaces a pass and keeps it simple but is more than capable of the extraordinary, and is a genuine match winner on his night.
At just 19, he has already made 12 international appearances for Portugal and has enough exposure at the highest level to be able to fit in well in England. He has small issues with his defensive abilities but nothing Jürgen Klopp cannot work upon.
Chances at Anfield
The Reds were looking at Keita as an option in their midfield and Sanches is a decent alternative for the Leipzig star. The Bayern midfielder can play anywhere in the midfield in the 4-3-3 formation but is expected to be used regularly in the domestic games, where he will be the main man for the club connecting defence to attack.
He has the confidence to be the talisman of a side already and though he may not walk into the first team, he is a player who is more than capable of having an impact from the bench. At his age, he is still learning and Klopp will use him accordingly, making him a necessity for the Reds. But do you think they can land him before the deadline day?
