Tottenham Hotspur stand as one of the most consistent sides in the Premier League at the moment, having qualified for the Champions League in the last couple of seasons. But there is a glaring lapse in the squad that is pulling them back at the moment and Mauricio Pochettino is not doing much to fill it up this summer.
The Spurs are yet to make their first signing of the summer but have lost Kyle Walker to Manchester City this summer. But their talismanic English play-maker feels that they are not too far away from lifting the league title. Speaking in a recent interview, Alli revealed that all his side needs are a couple of dynamic additions, that can turn them into genuine title contenders. So who do the Spurs need this summer? Here are three players, Pochettino should look at, who can help them lift the league title next season:
Rafinha (Barcelona):
Though not a target for the Spurs yet this summer, the Barcelona man is one of the most exciting midfielders at the moment in the game and the lack of game time at the Camp Nou has seen him linked with an exit constantly this summer. He will also not be too expensive and his experience will allow him to walk into the first team at the club. His attributes are a perfect fit for the Spurs and his addition will solve a few problems in midfield and attack that can help the Spurs lift the title next season
Thomas Lemar (AS Monaco):
The French winger has been extensively linked with a move to North London with both Arsenal and Tottenham desperate for his services. Monaco are not willing to let him leave this summer but the Spurs, having not spent on a single player this summer, will have enough money to splash on the 21-year old, who can be the first choice winger next season. He ticks most boxes which Pochettino looks for in a new recruit and he certainly has what it takes to help the Spurs take the next step.
William Carvalho (Sporting CP):
Probably the most effective player on this list for the Spurs is the 25-year old Portuguese midfielder, William Carvalho. Tailor made for the Premier League, the Sporting star has been extensively linked with a move to almost every top club in England and his performances in the previous season are a testament to why. The Spurs want a long term replacement for Mousa Dembele in the middle of the field and if they can get Carvalho, the duo together might help the club all the way in the upcoming campaign.
