When Antonio Conte is unhappy, you need to do everything to set things right. After all, he left Juventus due to disagreements and has openly said he doesn’t want to retain any player who doesn’t want to give their 100% for the club.
The eccentric Italian was hoping to strengthen his side for the upcoming season but sadly, they haven’t been able to do that so far. Barring old Willy Caballero – which we are still scratching our heads over – the Blues haven’t made any sort of movement in the transfer market, well, movement that counts.
The reason why Conte is seemingly pissed is because of the club’s inability to sign the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Alvaro Morata. With Conte already letting Diego Costa know that his future lies elsewhere, Chelsea are on the lookout for a proven striker and rumours were strong of a reunion with Lukaku, until Man United came swooping in.
Now, the Blues will have to look elsewhere but the blow of losing Lukaku has gotten to Conte. He is a proven goal-scorer and his style would have suited Chelsea as he is pretty much a complete player.
Chelsea also have Champions League football next season, so in addition to replacing Costa, they also need a solid backup option. Right now, they are far from signing anyone, though.
Where do they go from here?
Unless things improve, Conte could even make a surprise exit. The likes of Belotti, Morata and van Dijk, Sandro have been linked with big money moves, but deals seem far-fetched.
The fans will keep their fingers crossed, as they’d hate it if Conte leaves.
